Friday 11.36am-Final Blog

So, everything is done. Signed sealed and delivered.
Publication-done
Website-done
Professionally Presented-Done
It is a great feeling to have ALL the work handed in and to not have to worry about it for the following week when it is all actually due.

A quick de-brief of the semester...
I think that I have learned a reasonable amount of skills that i have leaned over the semester, although a longer class and of course longer time in everything will have helped the whole class.
A 3 hour class ISN'T long enough to learn two programs and be able to know them inside out. Of course outside class time was required and most people had to do this in order to be able to present a final piece of work at the end of semester.
For me, having another class straight after this one was a pain, as i would not be able to stay back if i wanted to work on things further. Therefore I had to make sure i remembered everything from week to week other wise it was like i was learning again the next week. I found it no point in writing steps down because the next week or during the week when i looked at them they didnt mean anything to me, it was all like jibberish.
I think the assessments and the criteria's for this class worked very well with the design of the course and I think having to two assessments due at the end of the semester was a good idea as well, as we had a few classes to work on our own work as well.
In my previous weeks in my blogs i have stated that i work better with given a program and trying to work it out myself, and it is then when i cant work it out using a series of clicking processes as well as a series of undo's is how i work. So the weeks when you were talking stuart you probably noticed that i would race ahead of you to see what would happen. At the same time i did listen most of the time. Whilst saying this other people are different, who need to be told exactly what to do, and i think you have been able to cater for all of the different students.

Overall I think that this class was good. I see why this would be good skills to have but I think in my case wanting to be a visual arts teacher, i think this class would be more appropriate for a design student. I'm not saying that it was a waste of time, and i enjoyed my time in this class.
Thanks Stuart

Week 11-The last Class for me

Due to country placement today will be the last day of Digital Publications for me and a few others in the class, therefore i have to get my work done and finish it and hand it in TODAY which i will be very happy about.
I have finished my publication and my website i just have to work out now how to put it onto disk and have ALL the back up files from the last 10 weeks onto a disk, Stuart i think i will need your help.

Ill have a debrief session at the end of the class

Today im in class, knowing that Stuart isnt here and expected the whole class to still come in even though our teacher isnt here. I was wrong there wasnt 1. There are 5 of us in the class and we all seem to be doing some kind of work.

Today I'm aiming at getting my website completed and ready to be put onto disk next week with the help of you, Stuart. I'm almost there just a few touch ups to do...

the day i should be trying to get my website done

Today I should be trying to get my website done due to a few reasons
-Stuart not being here next week
-Me being away on country placement the week after next and not having the access to the macs and the programs that everyone else has during that time!
SO massive mission today to get as much done as possible!
I'm thinking it could be SUPER hard, because i think it is really hard to put everything together and working with photos from my own work and working out the colours, fonts ect.
ill report back in 2 and a half hours from now to let you know of my progress

first day of may-end of class

Today i have to say, i didnt really learn much, which is kind of a bad thing, but i did learn something which i suppose is a good thing. For our websites our pictures must be NO MORE than 72 DPI-what ever that means, i'm not sure but i'm sure ill manage.
I'm more of a play around with technology to get it to work kind of person rather than being told what to do or read up on how to do it. My moto is if you click on something and it doesnt work then press the undo button and try again.
So as for next week it will be a massive play around with photoshop and dream weaver and get on my way to success with my assessment, as i wont be able to have the extra time for the week that everyone else has due to having placement in the country which is 3 hours away for 3 weeks. I'm not going to be able to pop past for a couple of hours one night after placement to finalise little bits and peices. So my aim is to have it done and handed in in week eleven! might be hard but i will have to work EXTRA hard next week. Stuart you will probably be sick of everyone calling your name!
Until next week, and a week of HARD work
SEE YAHH

Its MAYY

How this year has flown already! We are almost at the end of the semester and im getting pretty excited! Yay
So our own websites today! yay
Images and the internet-to be honest i havn't taken any photos of my work yet just because i cant get motivated to drag out all my old stuff from in my wardrobe and actually get some good photos from what i already have!
So, getting my head around making a website i got it last week. I will have to play around  with this a bit mored today to refresh my memory.
Due- week 12
All in design files
Finished Product (in design)
All Files (website)
Finished Product
CD cover
Professionally Presented!
Cant be done-probably week 11 due to COUNTRY PLACEMENT

website accomplished

I have worked out how to do this stuff, and here is my product, not too bad i dont think for a first time, i mean step-by-steps helped HEAPS but ready to conquer my own! out until next week
:)

Arghh Websites

This morning i came to class really opened minded and was trying to be postive about making a website that was actually going to work and be viewable to others. This i thought was scary but at the same time i was just going to do what i was told. Then, Stuart you say that we are going to do a activity about revision and to see what we could remember about the last lot of dreamweaver we did before the holidays.
THIS IS WHEN I FREAKED OUT! Im going to be honest and say that i have not done anything on websites over the holidays and so therefore have forgotten about everything pretty much that we did on that last friday before the holidays. I got to the point where I couldn't even work out where to start to work the website little own how to make it work in the big wide world web.
But after a couple of hours and our whole class revision i think that we are all feeling a bit better about the whole 'making a website' thing. Im not too worried about making all of this for the assessment! After all if it looks like crap it is only my fault.
I think that there should be more time in the semester for dreamweaver, for people who havn't really had much to do with technology and all that jazz (like myself) i think it is quite hard to learn in such a short amount of time and in a 3 hour class, which i think is everyones problem!

Until next week...

Three Hours Later

Three Hours later and alot of playing around with IN DESIGN i actually dont mind the program. I have finished my publication which is my invite and im really happy with it!
I might even use it for my actual birthday! I got a while until that so my mind might change, but i can leave it as an in design file for editing at a later date.

As for next week?
I'm not sure how im going to go but im leaving my brain open for new and exciting information to be pored in and hopefully it sticks there!
Until next week
Ciao
:)

One week later

This morning im in a much better frame of mind, its not as blurry for me!
Which is great for my learning!
Today we are talking about photography something that i know a little bit about.
I like photograpy because it is a very useful tool to have and know!

Ive decided that for my publication im going to make a invitation for my 21st birthday!
I have some ideas for it which are not set in stone as of yet but im quiet eager to start playing around with the tools in In Design
Also when i get home im going to download the trial version on the program to play around more at home and not just in class!
Other than that not much more to say
Bye

Friday 20th March

Today is a crap day for me...
but ill get through it i hope!
CV has be done, and dusted.
Today in class i probably wont be very attentive, but that wont be obvious.
I get through the basics that i need to get through the day!

I have been thinking about what sort of PUBLICATION i would like to be doing,
and im thinking that i may do a invite for my 21st. Kill two birds with 1 stone. I can use it to pass my digital publications and also, obviously, use it for my 21st birthday.
Also i have to get cracking with my photos that i have to take for the website that i need to make.
Im a bit scared about the program DREAMWEAVER. Weaver being the scary bit!
I'll be ready for it when it comes
Off for now
Bye

After Class

So much went on in class today, but i found it alot easier today to be able just to play around and kind of work things out for myself. I want to be able to click on something and then just have to opportunity to see what the outcomes are of the consiquence of clicking. I managed to do this a couple of times today and the use of the UNDO button came to my rescue. I finished my CV which is good and i was happy with the outcome!
Off to life drawing for me now for the next 4 hours...pwooaa
Until next time
Ciao

Before Class

Im looking forward to learning about TECHNOLOGY today in class!
I have no idea about any sort of programs on these MACS! Some times i just don't get it and it just doesnt sink in. I can do the basics on a computer, as much as i need to get by, but im willing to open my brain and let new information that will benefit me in the future as a teacher come in.

BLOGS?

I have been in Digital Publications for two weeks and i still cant get a hold of the term Blog. I thought these things were addictive? Well not for me at the moment?
Im glad i have learnt how to blog, for the future as technology is forever changing and it is going to be beyond me and everyone else, before we even know it.
In design is not as 'hard' as what i thought it was going to be ? Thank goodness
Time to head off...
:)
